About the role
The In‑Field Mentor supports missionaries in American Samoa by delivering training that helps them progress in gospel study, language acquisition, and missionary skills. Working closely with the Training department, the mentor provides coaching, lesson planning, and feedback across various instructional settings.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, and large‑group workshops for missionaries.
- Prepare and present lessons following the approved curriculum, often with a co‑teacher.
- Monitor missionaries’ participation in Canvas and discussion boards.
- Report progress and needs to the Teacher Trainer, Manager of Training, and senior leadership.
- Assist area leadership in coordinating with mission and missionary department leadership.
- Coach missionaries during practice and live lessons and may role‑play as a non‑member for training purposes.
- Participate in weekly training meetings and co‑teacher sessions.
Required profile
- Returned missionary, no more than three years since service.
- Fluency in the required second language (for language‑teaching positions).
- Strong coaching, facilitation and training abilities.
- Knowledge of the “Preach My Gospel” curriculum.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Self‑motivated, receptive to feedback and able to work well with others.
