Civil Engineer – Solar Projects

About the role

Eastern Power Solutions is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the planning, design, and construction of utility‑scale solar and renewable energy projects in American Samoa. The role is full‑time, on‑site and requires hands‑on involvement from concept through to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed civil engineering designs, specifications, and drawings for foundations, site grading, and infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar tools.
• Conduct geotechnical investigations, topographic surveys and environmental impact assessments to validate site feasibility.
• Oversee daily site activities, ensuring civil works, rebar placement, concrete pours and earthworks follow approved plans and schedules.
• Monitor construction to guarantee compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations and international engineering standards.
• Coordinate material procurement, equipment deployment and supervise contractors and civil crews while maintaining strict safety protocols.
• Prepare quantity take‑offs, cost estimates and budget forecasts, managing expenditures to avoid overruns.
• Identify design clashes or site hazards early and provide cost‑effective engineering solutions.
• Maintain accurate project logs, inspection reports, as‑built drawings and safety records for stakeholders and regulators.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in civil design and construction for large‑scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of local and international construction standards, building codes and zoning regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and field crews.
